Andrew Messick Retires. What’s Next for IRONMAN?
The big news of the week is that IRONMAN CEO Andrew Messick will retire at the end of the year. We look back at his tenure, the social media reaction to the news, and then start to ponder -- who might be next in line for the role? Is it a case of "be careful what you wish for?" Hey David, thanks for the comment. I think we did a good job at talking about that. If you listen to the whole thing we talk about how ironman needs to drop costs on expo fees to make the user experience better we also talk about how people are racing more local becuase of the lack of trust they have in ironman. Ironman and your podcast seem to be only for the rich man. Some of your comments are out of touch with the majority of people wanting to do IM’s. The cost is ridiculous, but Ironman has the name and Kona. Wife got Kona at Tulsa. I got Nice. We are only going to Kona as we would have to rob a bank to do both, so I gave up my slot. I’ve been to Nice in 2019 when wife raced there. It was awesome. I wanted badly to go back, but we can’t afford it. People do more local because travel costs so much.
